Oh Christmas tree...

Well it has been a week since we got our Christmas tree. I have sat down a couple of times to post the pictures and tell what a wonderful time we had getting our tree, but I have had mixed feelings about the tree this year.

It has always been a big deal to get our tree. When I was growing up we would get trees for Christmas from the dessert where my grandpa had his sheep for the winter. I remember after Thanksgiving I would wait to see grandpa or Uncle Ben pull up in the truck with the trees and I knew Christmas would be right around the corner!!! Ok trees from the dessert are the best. They smell so good and they are really bushy and beautiful. They are actually my most favorite tree ever and I loved the tradition of waiting for grandpa to get back from the dessert with our tree.

When we moved in to our new house we would have two trees, one in the family room, and one in the front room. The one in the living room was the smaller bushier tree from the dessert, It was the one that us kids got to decorate!!! The other tree was the taller tree that we would go get up Mill Hollow. I learned to love the trip up to get the tree with all the family. Eventually the tree in the front room was the only tree we would have every year instead of two . I really loved all of us going and getting the tree and although it was not big and bushy I loved the tradition!!!

And so that brings me to my confusion of the tree this year...

Even when Wacey and I first got married we carried on the tradition of getting a permit and going and cutting our own tree. WITH THE FAMILY. The last couple of years have been different because I had Addey the one year and could not go, so we stayed home and got the decorations out and ready for the tree. Last year my mom watched the girls so Wacey, Cole and I went and got the tree.

So This year We got the permits to go get our tree. I was so excited because all my little family (Wacey, Me, Addey, and Reece) were all going together !! I had got a permit for my mom so Cole went with us to find a tree for her !!! We went early enough there was no snow so I thought it would be great. I was so frustrated with the trip because we could not find any tree's that looked decent.

I don't know if it is because I still love the bushy trees from the dessert and I am so picky, but we just could not find one that looked good enough to be my Christmas tree.
So of the the nursery we went, after our quest for our tree up Mill Hollow. I actually think the girls had just as much fun at the nursery going up and down the ailes of trees!! And they got to pick the tree!!!

We did get our tree and it is actually a pretty tree!!

We brought the tree straight home and put it in the house right away!

And our tree is up, yes with mixed emotion because it was not the traditional way. But as I was thinking of the
traditions we had growing up, they changed and have changed again and again.
I now have my family and I am making new traditions !!! I still have not given up on the Real tree, We may see if our tradition is going to change again next year
( maybe if our real tree dies before Christmas)
The one thing that I was not disappointed with was... The four of us, my family was together and we had a great time being together!!!!
Isn't that what Christmas is about? What a great lesson it was and I think the tree is perfect!!

Happy Halloween

I have never really loved Halloween, But when you have kids it makes it a little funner!!! This year was really fun because Addey got really excited about dressing up. We had went costume shopping early in October to see what Addey wanted to be. I do not think she had ever even seen Snow White but that is who she wanted to be when she saw the Snow White dress.
We were going to have Reece wear Addeys Cute Lady bug costume that she wore at that age and had tried it on many times just for fun. BUT grandma went shopping and found the Chick costume and had to get it. Grandma spoils us and I am glad she did because Look at how dang cute Reece is as a cute little chick. Oh and her next years skunk costume because I am sure she will be a stinker!!! This was the pre Halloween photo shoot we had to have with them dressed in the costumes Nanni bought.

I did have to remind Addey that we had bought her the Snow white costume and she did end up being Snow White for her Preschool party and for Trick or Treating. We started early and went to Woodland Hills and got plenty of candy, We did go home and get warmed up and waited for dad to get home from school, and then we finished our Trick or Treating at both grandma's houses.

We went to Nannies (grandma Trudy) and Papa ( grandpa Deloy) and had our Pictures taken. We had to show off.. Addey had taught Reece to say Trick- or- Treat, and Reece would flap her arms and say Baa ck!!! Addey was pretty tired at this point but also did her princess twirls, and made sure she got her special treat Nanni had saved just for us!!!

So I do not love all the scary, spooky, Halloween things. But I did have a fun Halloween taking my kids Trick or Treating and getting all dressed up!!

Happy Birthday ASH !!!

Monday night we decided to carve our pumpkins in preperation for Halloween !! We had a lot of fun with Cache, Cole, Ashley, Wacey, Addey and Reece all getting in on the fun!! Reece was so interested in what daddy was doing and wanted to be right in on the action.

Addey also loved carving the pumpkins she helped me get all the guts out and helped Ashley do the carving.

Happy Birthday ASHLEY !!!!
